Organic Dried Leaf Indigo Dyeing Workshop - July 26th

$115.00

REGISTRATION OPENS FEBRUARY 1ST

Sunday, June 26th

1pm - 4pm

Led by Cait Nolan

For small scale growers of temperate climate indigo bearing plants like woad and Japanese indigo.

This workshop includes a deeper dive into the chemical reactions at play when vat dyeing. We will prepare a completely locally grown and sourced vat using a unique method which combines a number of historical techniques from a variety of indigo dyeing practices around the world.

This method is especially exciting for small scale backyard growers of temperate climate indigo bearing plants who may struggle to grow enough leaves for the more common aqueous extraction or Sukumo (composting) methods.

We will discuss some of the chemistry at play in this process and other types of indigo vats. This will be a very hands on experiential workshop.

The registration fee includes all the vat materials we will be using during the workshop and an cotton bandanna (23” X 23”).

Participants are welcome to bring up to 500 grams of additional fiber to dye (must be scoured and ready to dye).

This workshop will be held at Cait’s home dye studio in Williamstown, NJ (about 30 minutes from Philadelphia).

Please review my refund policy prior to finalizing your payment.

Refund Policy: I will issue a full refund provided a written withdrawal notice is emailed to me at caitmnolan@gmail.com. Any withdrawal notice must be received 14 days prior to the first day of a workshop for a full refund. Students who wish to withdraw fewer than 14 days before the first day of the workshop will be issued a 50% refund following the above procedure. No refunds will be issued after the first day of a workshop.
