Jadu’i Quilt Raffle
The Jadu’i Quilt is being raffled to raise funds for Roots of Resilience.
Founded in 2024 by Lana Mustafa, Roots of Resilience is a mutual aid organization working to directly support Palestinian farmers. Through fundraising, education, and advocacy, their mission is to strengthen and preserve traditional food systems and advocate for food sovereignty in Palestine.

Jadu’i watermelon is an heirloom variety from Jenin, in the West Bank. The variety was almost lost due to the agricultural upheaval wrought by Israeli occupation.
Vivien Sansour, founder of the Palestine Heirloom Seed Library was able to find an old farmer who had some seed stashed in a drawer. Vivien shared seed with Experimental Farm Network, which is where I originally got seed last year.
I have been growing Jadu’i watermelon for the last two years as a way to contribute to the Palestine Heirloom Seed Library.
The Jadu’i quilt is made with linen I have dyed solely with plants grown in my garden and foraged from the land where I live including, madder, Japanese indigo, goldenrod, weld and marigold. It was machine pieced and hand quilted with cotton sashiko thread and organic cotton batting.
